Spider-Verse 3: Star Delays Voice Recording

Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has poured cold water on hopes of a swift release for the highly anticipated third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse. He revealed he hasn't even begun recording his lines yet.

Speaking to Decider, Jerome confirmed that production hasn't commenced. He explained that various aspects of the film are still "being figured out." This news, while perhaps unsurprising given the five-year gap between the first and second films, will still disappoint fans eager for the presumed finale.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about production starting. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively small, his character is poised for a significant presence in the third. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse's ending: He's set to play the main antagonist. Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, a version of Miles who appears at the film's conclusion, not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.

This Miles's life took a drastically different turn. The radioactive spider that was meant to bite the main protagonist instead bit him in this reality. Consequently, Miles G. Morales didn't become Spider-Man. After the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, and he ultimately joined their ranks.

The unfolding of this storyline, and its collision with the main Miles who did become Spider-Man, will be central to Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will have to exercise patience, as the film isn't expected before 2026 at the earliest, according to Deadline. A release mirroring the gap between the first two films would push it back to 2028.
