"Split Fiction: Co-op Adventure Nears 4M Sales"

by Owen Jun 02,2025

Split Fiction, Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure game, has achieved an impressive milestone by selling nearly four million copies worldwide. In its latest financial report, publisher EA proudly announced this achievement, praising the game as a "highly successful launch" and highlighting it as a key contributor to their strong finish during the 2025 fiscal year.

"4 MILLION SOLD!!!!" Hazelight jubilantly declared on social media upon hearing the news. "An incredible number of players have already jumped into Split Fiction—it's truly amazing... Watching you enjoy our game and seeing the affection you show towards Mio, Zoe, and each other fills our hearts with joy here at Hazelight. Oh, and let's not forget all those hot dogs made along the way!"

PlaySplit Fiction invites players into a groundbreaking co-op journey where two fiction writers explore multiple worlds together. The innovative design allows two individuals to play simultaneously, even if only one owns the game. Since its release in March, it has quickly become a hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, selling over two million copies within just seven days. Additionally, it served as a prominent launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 and marks Hazelight's transition to their next project.

A film adaptation of Split Fiction is also in development, with Story Kitchen—the studio behind the acclaimed Sonic movies—currently assembling a team of writers, a director, and even securing Sydney Sweeney for the cast.

In our IGN Split Fiction review, we described it as "a masterfully crafted and engaging co-op experience that seamlessly transitions between wildly different genres," noting that its "rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles remains refreshingly unique throughout its 14-hour runtime."
