Split Fiction Sells 2 Million Copies in One Week

by Sarah Apr 24,2026

Hazelight Games' latest cooperative adventure, Split Fiction, continues its explosive start, surpassing 2 million copies sold within just one week.

The dual-protagonist narrative launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, swiftly establishing itself as another major success for the studio. Hazelight celebrated the powerful debut on social media, expressing how "blown away" they are by the support from both new and returning fans.

The team's earlier sales update revealed an impressive 1 million players had embarked on Mio and Zoe's sci-fi journey within only 48 hours of its release. This indicates another million copies were picked up in the subsequent five days.

Furthermore, Split Fiction being a cooperative title means the actual player count experiencing the game is significantly higher than the sales figures suggest. Its impact is amplified by the Friend’s Pass system, which lets a purchaser grant a friend free access. As buzz around Hazelight's adventure grows on social media, the 2 million copies sold is certain to rise.

Hazelight’s prior release, the 2021 Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, achieved comparable early success, selling approximately 1 million copies within a few weeks of its March 2021 launch. That figure grew to 10 million copies by February 2023 and reached 20 million by October 2024.

In IGN's review of Split Fiction, we described it as “an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another.”
