Announced during February's PlayStation State of Play, a new trailer revealed the Open Alpha Test will run from February 27th, 2025, to March 2nd, 2025, on consoles and PC.

What to Expect in Splitgate 2’s Open Alpha Test

According to 1047 Games' Lead Writer, Nate Dern (via the PlayStation Blog), the Open Alpha will feature crossplay and a brand-new 24-player mode: Multi-Team Portal Warfare. Three teams of eight will battle across Splitgate’s largest map yet, experimenting with new weapons, perks, and equipment amidst the signature chaotic action.

The original Splitgate's beloved portal mechanics remain central, allowing for creative outplays and trick shots. While the sequel introduces new classes (or factions) with unique abilities, the core gameplay loop built around portals remains intact. Dern emphasizes that player feedback has heavily influenced the game's development, aiming to create a defining FPS experience.
