Familiar, Yet Fresh

On July 18th, 1047 Games unveiled a cinematic trailer for *Splitgate 2*, the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2019 hit. CEO Ian Proulx explained their vision: to create "a game that can last a decade or more." While the original drew inspiration from classic arena shooters, the team recognized the need for "tools to build a deep and satisfying gameplay loop" to ensure longevity in the modern gaming landscape.

Hilary Goldstein, Head of Marketing, added, "We rethought our approach to portals, aiming to create a system where skilled players could truly excel, without making portaling essential for victory."

After a period in early access, Splitgate officially launched on September 15, 2022, with the announcement that development would cease to focus on building "the game fans deserve"—Splitgate 2.
