Stalker 2: Science Quest Guide

While navigating through The Zone in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players will come across various NPCs that can lead them to intriguing side quests, such as "For Science!". This mission kicks off when Skif meets Yaryk Mongoose, who tasks players with activating a second measuring device located on top of a Silo. Although the quest itself is on the shorter side, completing it rewards players with a valuable Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

How to Start "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2

To embark on the "For Science!" side quest in Stalker 2, players should seek out Yaryk Mongoose at the Central Elevator within the Chemical Plant region. As you approach, Mongoose will reach out to Skif via radio, prompting him to ascend the building for a meeting.

Upon entering the Central Elevator location, veer left past the conveyor belts and ascend the rusted stairs. Mongoose awaits on the first floor; you can vault the railing and enter his room to initiate a conversation. He'll point out a measuring device nearby and mention another atop a silo, explaining the need to activate both devices simultaneously. Accepting his request officially starts the "For Science!" side mission.

Reaching the Top of the Silo During "For Science!" Side Quest

After concluding your chat with Mongoose, leave the room and climb the stairs to reach the building's rooftop. Be prepared to face a pack of rodents; dispatch them and proceed into a room featuring broken windows on either side. Exit through one of these windows and descend using the ladder on the exterior walkway.

From this point, leap onto the connecting walkway leading to the Silos. Equip your bolt to safely navigate past the electro anomalies that await. Continue leftward atop the silo until you reach and activate the second measuring device. Upon activation, a group of Bloodsuckers will storm the area. You can choose to confront and eliminate these creatures or evade them to return to Yaryk Mongoose.

Confront Yaryk Mongoose About the Bloodsucker Pack

When you meet Mongoose again, he'll explain the unexpected consequences of the experiment. Players face a pivotal decision: kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and leave. Opting to eliminate Mongoose allows you to loot the Malachite pass from his body, though this choice has no further repercussions.

However, it's advisable to listen to Mongoose's explanation and select the non-hostile option. This choice not only secures the Malachite Pass but also grants you additional coupons as compensation. With the pass in hand, you can now access the STC Malachite base, provided you don't already have entry through another main mission.
