Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Rumored to be Canceled

The highly anticipated project made its debut to the public in September 2021, yet since then, whispers surrounding its progress have remained scarce and speculative. Now, it appears that rather than the eagerly awaited launch, supporters might face disheartening news. This revelation comes via Alex Smith, the ex-leader of Bend Studio and co-creator of the iconic Syphon Filter series.

On his X platform, Smith announced that the development of SW: KotOR Remake has been entirely suspended, despite Saber Interactive affirming in 2024 that work was still progressing. He mentioned that some team members assigned to the project were redirected to different duties, while others faced layoffs. Should these claims hold merit, it would mark a significant setback for enthusiasts anticipating a reimagining of the classic RPG.

Notably, Smith has historically delivered credible insider updates. For instance, he foreshadowed the unveiling of a new title from Housemarque, which indeed occurred. However, his forecasts concerning the release timelines for Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei were incorrect, suggesting his insights warrant cautious consideration.

At this point, neither Saber Interactive nor Aspyr have addressed these reports officially, leaving the community uncertain about the project's future.
