Stellar Blade Dev Shift Up Posts Record Year, Sales of PC Version Still Expected to Outsell PS5

by Aaliyah Mar 06,2025

Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced record-breaking financial results for 2024. Stellar Blade generated $43 million in royalties, and the upcoming PC release is projected to surpass PlayStation 5 sales.

Game World Observer reported Shift Up's 2024 financial report, showcasing a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million. Stellar Blade royalties alone contributed a significant $43.2 million to this total.

The company anticipates continued success, predicting stronger PC sales than the console version, particularly within the Asian gaming market. Shift Up also plans a 2025 first-half unveiling of its new title, Project Witches, though this is not the anticipated Stellar Blade sequel.

Project Witches was announced in 2024, shortly after Stellar Blade's PS5 launch, preempting significant demand for a direct follow-up. However, Shift Up has indicated consideration for future installments in the Stellar Blade franchise.

Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG, casts players as Eve, fighting against alien invaders to reclaim Earth. While achieving a 7/10 IGN review score and selling over one million copies, our review noted that "Stellar Blade excels in core action game mechanics, but suffers from underdeveloped characters, a weak narrative, and frustrating RPG elements hindering its potential."
