Stellar Blade's Triumph at the 2024 Korea Game Awards: Seven Awards and a Promise of More
SHIFT UP's Stellar Blade achieved remarkable success at the 2024 Korea Game Awards, held on November 13th at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO). The game secured seven prestigious awards, including the Excellence Award, a testament to its exceptional achievements in game design, visuals, and audio. Specific accolades included recognition for Game Planning/Scenario, Graphics, Character Design, and Sound Design, alongside the Outstanding Developer Award and the Popular Game Award.
This marks the fifth Korea Game Award win for Stellar Blade Director and SHIFT UP CEO Kim Hyung-tae, highlighting his consistent contribution to award-winning game development throughout his career at Softmax, NCSoft, and now SHIFT UP. His previous wins include Magna Carta 2, The War of Genesis 3, and his role in Blade & Soul and Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
Kim Hyung-tae expressed gratitude in his acceptance speech, acknowledging initial skepticism surrounding the development of a Korean-made console game achieving significant international recognition. He emphasized the collaborative effort of the entire team in achieving this success.
While Stellar Blade narrowly missed the Grand Prize (awarded to Netmarble’s Solo Leveling: ARISE), Kim Hyung-tae assured fans that the game's journey is far from over. He promised future updates and expressed ambition to win the Grand Prize in future iterations.
