Strauss Zelnick Updates Investors on GTA 6 Delay, Shares Fall

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has addressed shareholder concerns regarding Grand Theft Auto VI's unexpected delay.

Rockstar Games recently confirmed GTA VI's launch window has shifted from Fall 2025 to May 26, 2026 - moving its release from Take-Two's 2026 fiscal year into 2027. This news caused Take-Two's stock to drop nearly 8% in early trading following the announcement.

Financial Outlook Remains Strong

In an official statement, Take-Two reaffirmed expectations for consecutive record-breaking Net Bookings (revenue) during fiscal years 2026 and 2027. Zelnick expressed full confidence in Rockstar's decision to extend development, emphasizing their commitment to delivering an unprecedented gaming experience.

"We completely support Rockstar's choice to take additional time perfecting their creative vision for GTA VI," Zelnick stated. "This promises to be a groundbreaking entertainment experience that will redefine expectations. While we understand the global anticipation, our dedication to quality remains unwavering."

Filling the Revenue Gap

With GTA VI's massive projected earnings now shifted to FY2027, Take-Two will rely on other upcoming titles to maintain momentum. The company's 2K Games division has several major releases scheduled, including:

• NBA 2K26 (Fall 2025)

While these titles represent strong additions to Take-Two's portfolio, none can realistically match GTA VI's revenue potential. The gaming community has largely accepted the delay, though many hoped for new promotional material to soften the announcement's impact.
