Summary
- Mai Shiranui will be added to Street Fighter 6 on February 5, bringing her classic moves with unique changes.
- As well as having motion input moves, players can get her classic outfit and new Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves costumes.
- Mai's storyline in Street Fighter 6 involves tracking down Terry's brother Andy in Metro City, facing off against challengers.
A new gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6 gives fans their best look yet at Mai Shiranui, confirming her addition to the roster on February 5. This release comes after a significant gap since the launch of the second Year 2 DLC character, Terry, on September 24, 2024. Fans have been eagerly awaiting new content for Street Fighter 6, and Capcom's announcement at Summer Game Fest about a second year of content was met with enthusiasm. The collaboration between Capcom and SNK to bring iconic fighters Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui to the game, alongside M. Bison and Elena, has been a highlight of Street Fighter 6's Year 2 DLC. With Bison and Terry already available, all eyes are now on Mai.
The latest trailer showcases Mai Shiranui in both her classic Fatal Fury costume and her new look from the upcoming City of the Wolves. Capcom has ensured that Street Fighter 6's version of Mai will feel familiar to longtime fans while introducing unique properties and motion input moves instead of charge attacks. Mai retains her fans and other classic moves but can also earn "Flame Stacks" to enhance her abilities further.
Street Fighter 6 Mai Shiranui Launch Date
- February 5
Capcom has also teased Mai's storyline in Street Fighter 6. Unlike Terry's quest to test his skills, Mai's journey is more straightforward. She visits Metro City to track down Terry's brother Andy, whom she believes recently visited the area. Her search leads her to confront other characters, such as Juri, testing her abilities and skills.
The extended period between DLC releases has left many fans feeling frustrated with the relative silence from Capcom, particularly regarding major updates and the game's battle pass system. The recent Boot Camp Bonanza battle pass, while featuring numerous customization items, focused primarily on avatar items rather than character skins, a feature that was regularly updated in Street Fighter 5. This has left fans longing for more frequent and diverse content updates.
