Superman Unlimited Brings Marvel Mainstay Dan Slott Back to DC Comics

by Ethan Feb 21,2025

DC Comics announces Superman Unlimited, a new monthly series debuting May 2025, bringing acclaimed Marvel writer Dan Slott back to DC. Slott, known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Fantastic Four, returns to DC after a two-decade Marvel exclusivity.

The series pairs Slott with artist Rafael Albuquerque (American Vampire) and colorist Marcelo Maiolo.

Slott states, "He’s the greatest superhero, and I’ve waited my whole life to tell his stories. Rafael and I will take him—and you—to incredible places each month. Millions of ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic villains, and brand-new characters await."

Superman Unlimited introduces a perilous new reality. A Kryptonite asteroid shower arms Intergang with Kryptonite weapons, forcing Superman to develop new technology and tactics. Simultaneously, Clark Kent faces a transformed Daily Planet, now a global multimedia conglomerate after merging with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski compares the series to Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness's Superman/Batman from the early 2000s, stating it will deliver classic Superman adventures while introducing a massive Kryptonite deposit. He envisions a world where every criminal is armed with Kryptonite, creating unprecedented danger for Superman and his allies. This contrasts with the Justice League Unlimited series, focusing on unlimited heroes, while Superman Unlimited showcases unlimited, Kryptonite-enhanced villains.

A 10-page prelude story launches in DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1 on May 3, 2025, followed by Superman Unlimited #1 on May 21, preceding James Gunn's Superman film on July 11.
