Palworld Switch Release Unlikely Due to Technical Challenges, Says Developer

While a Nintendo Switch version of Palworld isn't entirely off the table, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has voiced significant concerns regarding the technical hurdles involved in porting the game.

Mizobe's comments, shared in a recent interview with Game File, highlight the demanding PC specifications of Palworld, posing a considerable challenge for a Switch port. He stated that discussions about potential new platforms are ongoing, but no concrete announcements are imminent.

Despite the technical difficulties, Mizobe remains optimistic about expanding Palworld's reach to other platforms. Earlier statements confirmed ongoing negotiations to bring the game to additional consoles and mobile devices, although specific platforms remain unconfirmed. He also confirmed that while open to partnerships and acquisitions, Pocketpair is not currently in buyout discussions with Microsoft.

Future Vision: More "Ark" and "Rust" Influences

Beyond platform expansion, Mizobe outlined ambitions to enhance Palworld's multiplayer aspects. An upcoming arena mode, described as an experiment, will pave the way for more extensive PvP experiences. He explicitly expressed a desire to incorporate elements reminiscent of popular survival games Ark and Rust, emphasizing the importance of robust PvP and PvE interactions, including base building, resource management, and alliances.

Palworld, a creature-collecting survival shooter, has enjoyed considerable success since its launch, selling 15 million copies on PC within its first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox Game Pass. A significant update, the Sakurajima update, is scheduled for release on Thursday, introducing a new island and the highly anticipated PvP arena.
