T-1000 Gameplay in Mortal Kombat 1 Echoes Terminator 2, Surprise Kameo DLC Revealed
NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the first gameplay footage for the T-1000, the latest DLC guest character in *Mortal Kombat 1*, and confirmed the addition of Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter. The T-1000's moveset evokes nostalgia for *Terminator 2*, showcasing attacks like blade and hook arms that resemble those of Baraka and Kabal. A striking feature is the T-1000's ability to morph into a liquid metal blob and execute an uppercut akin to Glacius from *Killer Instinct*.
The T-1000 is voiced by Robert Patrick, reprising his iconic role from the 1991 film. In the gameplay teaser, Patrick's voice is heard during a confrontation with Johnny Cage, culminating in a Fatality that recreates the thrilling chase scene from *Terminator 2*. The T-1000 emerges from a truck to unleash a barrage of bullets on Cage.
Simultaneously, NetherRealm announced that Madam Bo, a beloved character from the *Mortal Kombat 1* storyline, will join the game as a Kameo fighter. Known for her role as a resilient restaurant owner who confronts Smoke and his thugs, Madam Bo's brief gameplay appearance in the teaser shows her assisting the T-1000 during a match against Johnny Cage.
The T-1000 will be available in *Mortal Kombat 1* starting March 18 for early access to Khaos Reigns owners, with a wider release on March 25. Madam Bo will also be accessible on March 18 as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or as a standalone purchase.
As the final addition to the Khaos Reigns expansion, the T-1000 follows other notable fighters such as Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation continues about the possibility of a third set of DLC characters or a Kombat Pack 3, amid discussions on the game's sales performance.
Despite these uncertainties, Warner Bros. Discovery remains committed to the *Mortal Kombat* franchise. In November, CEO David Zaslav emphasized the company's focus on four key titles, including *Mortal Kombat*. Additionally, in September, NetherRealm's Ed Boon confirmed the studio's long-term support for *Mortal Kombat 1* while hinting at a decision made three years prior regarding their next project.
While fans anticipate a new entry in the Injustice series, NetherRealm's choice to release Mortal Kombat 1 in 2023 instead of alternating between the two franchises was influenced by several factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4. Ed Boon has reassured fans that the door remains open for future Injustice games, despite the current focus on Mortal Kombat.
