Talystro: Math Meets RPG in New Roguelike Deckbuilder Coming Soon

If you've been following us for a while, you're likely familiar with our parent company's event, Pocket Gamer Connects. One of our standout features at these events is the Big Indie Pitch, where we showcase innovative indie games to a panel of judges. Today, we're excited to spotlight one of the top runners-up that caught our attention: the math-battling roguelike, Talystro!

At first glance, Talystro might seem like just another deckbuilding roguelike, given the genre's current popularity. However, a closer look reveals what sets it apart. In Talystro, you play as the math mouse, engaging in battles against number-based monsters on a quest to overthrow the evil Necrodicer. The game ingeniously blends card and dice mechanics, allowing players to combine these elements to reach target numbers and defeat enemies. Be mindful, though, as you're limited to a certain number of dice rolls per turn.

ytCrypt of the NecrodicerTalystro boasts a unique visual style, blending rubber hose animation with a fantasy aesthetic reminiscent of educational math games from your childhood. While the game's math challenges are entry-level, the gameplay is both engaging and easy to understand at a glance.

Scheduled for release in March, Talystro's simple yet challenging format is poised to captivate players. Many deckbuilders struggle to strike this balance, but Talystro seems to have nailed it.
