Temuera Morrison Regrets Limited Boba Fett Role Post-Disney+
What’s Next for Boba Fett? The legendary Star Wars bounty hunter was last seen in The Book of Boba Fett's finale in February 2022. While the Disney+ series polarized fans—some argued it softened the iconic character too much—it's hard to believe that’s the end of his story.
Three years later, there's been no word on The Book of Boba Fett Season 2. Lucasfilm hasn't confirmed its return, leaving The Mandalorian & Grogu movie next year as the most likely place for Boba Fett's live-action return. Will The Mandalorian Season 4 happen? If so, perhaps Boba could resurface there.
The future remains uncertain for both Boba Fett and actor Temuera Morrison. Recent comments from Morrison himself suggest little has changed.
Speaking to Collider about his new film Ka Whawhai Tonu (In The Fire of War), the 64-year-old New Zealander admitted feeling "sad" about not reprising the role.
"Where’s The Book of Boba Fett Season 2? Where the hell is Season 2? I know they're doing Ahsoka Season 2. I'm going, 'Ah, where’s my Season 2?'"
Morrison revealed he even pitched Lucasfilm on appearing in Ahsoka Season 2—joking about playing Captain Rex by removing the helmet—noting he already portrays all the clones derived from Jango Fett. He also recently reminded Star Wars creatives Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau that Boba Fett still exists.
"They didn’t want to say too much," Morrison recalled, interpreting their vague response as: "I've been preserved for a later date, and I'm going to be tastier." He humorously compared the situation to being "that preservative jar of peaches up on grandma’s shelf."
Star Wars’ Upcoming Projects

Morrison might know more than he’s letting on—Lucasfilm is famously secretive. Rosario Dawson, for instance, had no idea Mark Hamill was returning as Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian until filming.
However, evidence suggests no Boba Fett comeback is currently planned. Last year, Morrison attributed the character’s absence to The Book of Boba Fett's underwhelming reception. At Fan Expo Chicago, he stated Disney hadn’t approached him for The Mandalorian & Grogu or a second season.
"This show's reception does seem to have impacted the character’s future," Morrison acknowledged in August 2024. A year later, nothing appears to have changed.
Originally playing Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones, Morrison later returned as Boba Fett. He’s openly expressed interest in reprising the role, even suggesting Boba should claim screen time in The Mandalorian—just as Din Djarin took center stage in his show.
