Tides of Annihilation Extended Gameplay Trailer: 11 Minutes of Intense Action

Following its global reveal at the recent State of Play, Tides of Annihilation unveils an extended gameplay trailer showcasing its high-octane combat. Dive deeper into this upcoming action title.

Exploring a Post-Apocalyptic London

First seen at last week's PlayStation State of Play, the hack-and-slash action-adventure game, Tides of Annihilation, generated significant buzz with its new extended gameplay trailer.

The trailer features protagonist Gwendolyn and her shape-shifting sword companion, Niniane, navigating the ruins of a ravaged, otherworldly London, the victim of an Outworld invasion. Their journey through decaying streets is fraught with enemies. Gwendolyn's ability to summon over ten legendary Arthurian knights is then revealed.

Tides of Annihilation Gameplay: Epic Boss Battle

After overcoming obstacles and traversing a magical portal, the duo confronts Mordred, a boss character with conflicting objectives, determined to thwart Gwendolyn's plans. The ensuing boss fight highlights the game's dynamic combat, underscored by a haunting choral score.

According to producer Kun Fu on PlayStation.Blog, the combat system offers "intuitive co-op combat within a single-player experience." Players can summon two spectral knights at a time, each with unique combat roles, requiring strategic choices. "The interplay between Gwendolyn and the knights creates a dynamic, fast-paced, and deeply engaging combat experience. It's a system our team (veterans from top game studios) fell in love with during internal playtests."

Echoes of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta

Tides of Annihilation: Stunning Visuals and Fluid Combat

Online comments praise the game's art direction, style, fluid combat, and overall gameplay, drawing comparisons to classics like Devil May Cry (DMC) and Bayonetta, as well as titles such as Elden Ring, NieR: Automata, Stellar Blade, and Final Fantasy 16. The trailer has ignited considerable excitement and anticipation, with many expressing belief in its "immense potential" and confirming their intent to purchase it upon release.

Tides of Annihilation, the debut title from Chengdu-based Eclipse Glow Games, blends Arthurian legend with an alternate modern London. Players embody Gwendolyn, a survivor of an apocalyptic event. While a release date is yet to be announced, the game is slated for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
