Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 Receives Rating in Singapore
The flames of excitement for a potential Tony Hawk's Pro Skater remake are burning brighter than ever, thanks to a recent listing from Singapore's rating board. The board has rated "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4" for a 2025 release, adding more fuel to the rumor mill. This anticipated remake, which would include the next two mainline entries in the iconic series, is reportedly set to launch on a wide array of platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
While no official word has come from Activision yet, a mysterious countdown timer found within Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is stirring anticipation. This timer is set to hit zero on March 4, 2025, hinting that an announcement related to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater might be imminent.
Adding to the buzz, Tony Hawk himself has been dropping hints. In a recent chat with Mythical Kitchen, Hawk revealed he's been in discussions with Activision about a new project. "It will be something the fans will truly appreciate," he teased, stoking the fires of anticipation among the skateboarding community.
The success of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 remake in 2020 set a high bar, making a follow-up with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 seem like a natural next step. However, the journey hasn't been straightforward. After the stellar reception of the first remake, the original developer, Vicarious Visions, was absorbed into Blizzard in 2021 to focus on other projects. This left Activision searching for a new team to take on the challenge of remaking the next two games.
Tony Hawk shed light on the situation during a Twitch livestream in 2022, explaining that Activision had been on the hunt for a suitable developer. "The truth of it is that [Activision] were trying to find somebody to do 3 + 4 but they just didn’t really trust anyone the way they did Vicarious, so they took other pitches from other studios," Hawk said. "Like, ‘What would you do with the THPS title?’ And they didn’t like anything they heard, and then that was it."
With the Singaporean ratings board listing Activision as both the publisher and developer, the big question remains: who is actually developing this eagerly awaited remake? Fans won't have to wait long for answers, as the countdown timer in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to reveal more on March 4, next week.
