Ubisoft's New NFT Game

Ubisoft's foray into the NFT gaming space continues with the stealth release of Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. As reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, this top-down multiplayer arcade shooter has a unique entry requirement: players must purchase an NFT to participate.

Ubisoft's Captain Laserhawk Game

Expanding the universe of the Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, this game incorporates familiar Ubisoft IPs like Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed. Limited to 10,000 players, access requires purchasing a Citizen ID Card NFT on Ubisoft's Magic Eden page for $25.63. This card tracks player stats, achievements, and even evolves based on in-game performance. Players can also resell their IDs.

The full game launch is slated for Q1 2025, but early access is available to those who've already secured their Citizen ID.

A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC

Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix

The game's setting mirrors the Netflix animated series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, a spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. Set in a dystopian 1992 where the US is a megacorporation-controlled technocracy called Eden, the series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier turned rebel. While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's plot, it shares this universe and allows players to influence the narrative through mission completion, leaderboard rankings, and community engagement. Players essentially become citizens of Eden, their in-game actions impacting their standing.
