EA Sports UFC 5 Receives January 9th Update: New Fighter, Bug Fixes, and Xbox Game Pass Integration

EA Vancouver has dropped a new update for EA Sports UFC 5, hitting PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on January 9th at 1 PM ET. Patch 1.18 introduces undefeated Light Heavyweight Azamat Murzakanov, boasting impressive stats (97 Power Punch, 95 Accuracy, 94 Ground Striking), along with three undisclosed new alter egos.

This update addresses player concerns following the game's October 2023 release, where criticism focused on the initial fighter roster. EA Vancouver's commitment to expanding the roster is evident, with EA Sports UFC 5 now achieving 98% parity with current UFC top ten rankings.

Beyond the roster additions, Patch 1.18 includes gameplay refinements – notably, a reduction in the muscle modifier's stamina cost (from x3.125 to 2.5) – and bug fixes. These fixes address incorrect translations in certain languages and a Ranked Championship issue ("Stand and Bang" match result display). Updated portraits for Stipe and Jones (UFC 309) also reflect recent glove updates.

The update coincides with EA Sports UFC 5's arrival on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play, starting January 14th. This adds to the already robust January lineup for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
