Unlocking New Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide

In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, unlike its predecessors where players could control numerous characters each with their unique weapons, you'll embark on your journey as a single character. This character can unlock and switch between various weapons as you progress through the game, adding a dynamic layer to your combat strategy.

Where To Find New Weapons In Dynasty Warriors: Origins

While earlier *Dynasty Warriors* titles featured weapons tied to specific characters with tailored move sets, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* streamlines the experience. You'll primarily play as one character, but with the flexibility to swap weapons at your discretion. Starting with just a sword, you'll expand your arsenal by completing missions and defeating designated enemy officers.

You can unlock all nine main weapons by the end of Chapter 3, though the exact timing depends on which officers you defeat. To ensure you acquire each weapon as early as possible, here's a detailed guide on when and how to unlock each weapon:

  • Sword – Your starting weapon.
  • Spear – Unlocked after completing the Battle of Guangyang in Chapter 1. You'll need to purchase it to advance the story.
  • Gauntlets – Available during the Battle of Guangzong in Chapter 1. Defeat Zhou Cang to obtain them.
  • Wheels – Earned in the Suppression of You Province in Chapter 2 by defeating Zhang Ju.
  • Podao – Found in the Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits in Chapter 2. Defeat any officer carrying the Podao to unlock it.
  • Staff – Obtained in the Assassination of Dong Zhuo in Chapter 2. Look for an officer in a treasure chamber with a secret passage and defeat him.
  • Twin Pike – Unlocked in the Battle of Hulao Gate in Chapter 2 by defeating Zhang Liao.
  • Lance – Available during the Battle of Xu Province. Depending on whether you side with Cao Cao or Liu Bei, defeat an officer on the opposing side who carries the Lance.
  • Crescent Blade – Unlocked in Chapter 3, though the specific mission depends on the faction you side with. You'll obtain it before completing the chapter.

There's also a final weapon, the Halberd, which is a challenging unlock. After completing the campaign, you must defeat Lu Bu at the Battle of Hulao Gate to earn this powerful weapon, considered the best in the game.

And that's how you unlock each weapon in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* is now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
