The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 2 Premiere Release Date Confirmed – IGN Fan Fest 2025
The premiere date for Season 2 of *The Walking Dead: Dead City* was unveiled at IGN Fan Fest 2025, set to air on May 4, 2025. During the second day of the event, IGN provided an exclusive clip and conducted interviews with key figures from the series, including Scott Gimple, the chief content officer of The Walking Dead universe, along with actors Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who portray Maggie and Negan, respectively.
Lauren Cohan delved into Maggie's mindset as Season 2 begins, stating, "Sadly not everything is quite as rosy as it could be or seems or one would hope." She elaborated on the challenges Maggie faces, juggling the complexities of family life with her son and Ginny, a teenage girl under her care, amidst the backdrop of an apocalyptic world where survival is a daily struggle. "That’s where we find ourselves before another big bad thing happens," Cohan added, hinting at the looming threats.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan discussed Negan's current predicament, noting that his character is "very much under the thumb of The Dama and The Croat," navigating unfamiliar territory. "He’s going to try flip that script, of course," Morgan said, indicating Negan's ongoing efforts to regain control despite being in a challenging position. Morgan also expressed his fondness for Negan's iconic weapon, Lucille, a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire, named after his deceased wife. "I love that thing! But I as an actor, that’s the only prop I’ve ever had my whole life I enjoy carrying around with me," he shared, though humorously noting it didn't bring back fond memories for Cohan.
Scott Gimple shed light on the evolving dynamics of Season 2, explaining, "There is no single big bad. There’s a lot of shifting as far as the power ranking for this season. It isn’t all antagonistic. It’s a little more complex like that. It’s a little more political. And then we get kinda physical." This suggests a season filled with intricate power struggles and multifaceted conflicts.
IGN also released the opening minutes of the first episode of Season 2, offering fans a sneak peek into the upcoming narrative. *The Walking Dead: Dead City* Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on AMC on May 4, 2025. Stay tuned to IGN for more updates from Fan Fest 2025.
