Walmart+ Members Get Early Pokémon TCG Black Bolt & White Flare Preorder Access

by Riley Dec 11,2025

Frequent sell-outs and scalping continue to plague the Pokémon TCG community, but Walmart is testing a new approach. Early access to the White Flare & Black Bolt sets now requires a paid Walmart+ membership.

Preorders for a range of White Flare and Black Bolt TCG products like Elite Trainer Boxes, Poster Collection Boxes, and Booster Bundles launch on June 18 at 9 PM ET. For the first wave, however, this early access is reserved for paying Walmart+ members while supplies last.

Any remaining stock after the member-exclusive period will then be available to all shoppers. While the Walmart+ hub advertises a 30-day free trial, individual product pages clarify that only paid members can secure preorders during the early access window.

A standard Walmart+ membership costs $12.95 per month or $98 per year, which averages out to roughly $8.17 per month.

While needing a subscription to secure a preorder can be frustrating, Walmart+ includes several perks: free delivery with no minimum order, a Paramount+ subscription, fuel and Burger King discounts, free tire repair, free pharmacy delivery, and more.

One initial hurdle for immediate access is that the sign-up process prominently offers the free trial. You can bypass this by starting the trial, canceling it, and then immediately signing up for a paid membership.

Students and recent graduates qualify for a 50% discount, lowering the cost to $6.49 monthly or $49 annually with all the same benefits. Verification typically requires using a valid student email address.

Some former Walmart+ members report receiving limited-time offers to rejoin for just $1, making early access to White Flare and Black Bolt preorders—along with all the other member benefits—an exceptional deal.
