World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 Adding Two New Types of Races
Summary
- World of Warcraft Patch 11.1 introduces Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and thrilling Skyrocket races using Goblin jetpacks.
- Undermine, the new zone in Patch 11.1, disables flying, instead offering customizable D.R.I.V.E. cars and jetpack-powered races.
- Skyrocket races present unique challenges, combining speed and ring collection with increasingly difficult handling at higher velocities.
World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, titled "Undermined," introduces two exciting new race types: Breakneck D.R.I.V.E. races and Skyrocket races. These replace traditional Skyriding races in Undermine, the sprawling subterranean Goblin capital city. Undermine itself prohibits flying, encouraging players to utilize the dynamic, customizable D.R.I.V.E. cars for high-speed ground-based racing. The Breakneck races fully exploit the D.R.I.V.E. system's potential.
Complementing the D.R.I.V.E. races are the innovative Skyrocket races. These utilize Goblin jetpacks for aerial maneuvering, offering a unique blend of existing flight mechanics. Unlike steady flight, players can't stop mid-air, but unlike Skyriding, they maintain momentum and altitude. As demonstrated by WoW content creator MrGM on the Public Test Realm, collecting rings increases speed, but also reduces maneuverability, adding a layer of strategic challenge.
New Skyrocket Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Undermine's no-fly policy eliminates Skyriding races. However, both Breakneck and Skyrocket races offer Bronze, Silver, and Gold achievement rewards for completing each course. Reverse versions of all races are also included, although advanced or challenge courses, typical of some Skyriding races, are absent.
All Skyrocket and Breakneck Races in World of Warcraft Patch 11.1
Initial player feedback on the Skyrocket races has been mixed. While some anticipate their arrival, others express concerns about the perceived stiffness and lack of responsiveness compared to Skyriding. Since Patch 11.1 remains in development, further refinements are expected before its anticipated February release.
