WoW Announces Catch-Up for Missed 20th Anniversary Achievement

World of Warcraft enthusiasts have a new opportunity to earn the coveted Detective title, even after the conclusion of the game's 20th anniversary event. Alyx, the Lightforged Draenei NPC previously central to the Guest Relations mystery questlines, has been relocated to Dornogal. Here, players can continue their quest for the elusive Felcycle mount by engaging in a hunt for 11 missing Celebration Crates scattered across the game world.

The 20th anniversary celebration of World of Warcraft was a memorable event filled with activities, rewards, and special buffs that lasted nearly three months. As the celebration ended, the Caverns of Time reverted to their usual state, and most of the event-specific NPCs and decorations vanished. However, Alyx, now sporting the title "Volunteer Event Coordinator, Among Other Things," has taken up residence at the hot springs northwest of the Delver’s Headquarters, near the stairs leading to the Foundation Hall in Dornogal.

Alyx's presence in Dornogal is a boon for players, as they bring along their board of notes, which provides crucial clues to the locations of the Celebration Crates. Players who successfully locate and return all 11 crates to Alyx will be rewarded with the Crate Insurance Agent, No Crate Left Behind, and Azeroth’s Greatest Detective achievements, culminating in the prestigious Detective title. This title is essential for unlocking the mystery quest that leads to the Incognitro, the Indecipherable Felcycle mount.

Earning the Detective Title After the WoW Anniversary

  • Locate Alyx and their board of clues in Dornogal, situated between the Delver’s Headquarters and the stairs to the Foundation Hall.
  • Use the clues on the board to find the 11 missing Celebration Crates throughout World of Warcraft. Note that players must be at least level 10 to start these quests, but access to Dornogal requires reaching level 68.
  • Return six crates to earn the Crate Insurance Agent achievement, and all 11 crates to secure the No Crate Left Behind, Azeroth’s Greatest Detective achievements, and the Detective title.

The relocation of Alyx to Dornogal ensures that players can continue to pursue the Detective title and the subsequent mystery quest for the Felcycle mount indefinitely. This move was crucial, as the Detective title is a prerequisite for starting the mystery with the Dalaran Survivor in Dornogal, which many believed would be inaccessible post-event.

While the Guest Relations quests from the 20th anniversary are no longer available, as they were tied to the event-specific grounds, the opportunity to earn the Detective title remains open. Unfortunately, achievements like Assistant to the Assistant Guest Relations Manager and I Saved the Party and All I Got Were These Lousy Hats, along with their associated Thinking Cap transmogs, are now unobtainable. Although it seems unlikely that World of Warcraft will revive this particular storyline, the game may introduce alternative methods to acquire these rewards in the future.
