Nightmare Crownless is a formidable new Nightmare Echo in Wuthering Waves, a challenging Overlord-class Echo. Unlike its standard counterpart, it boasts increased Havoc and Basic Attack DMG, making it a highly desirable asset for specific character builds.

Like other Nightmare Echoes, Nightmare Crownless is obtained through defeating it at its overworld location. However, accessing this powerful spear-wielder requires completing the "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" quest and an additional step. Follow these instructions to unlock Nightmare Crownless.

Ruins Where Shadows Roam Quest Guide

This quest differs from typical Wuthering Waves quests. Instead of an NPC or in-world interaction, it's initiated through the Exploration Progress menu for the Penitent's End region in Rinascita. Access this menu by opening your map and selecting the compass icon in the upper-left corner, beside your current location's name.

"Ruins Where Shadows Roam" is intrinsically linked to "Quest of Faith," an optional quest requiring the defeat of four enemies in specific Penitent's End locations. Begin by interacting with the prompt near the circular arena adjacent to the Resonance Beacon across the broken bridge in Wailing Ascent. This triggers a battle against a Questless Knight, reminiscent of those encountered in WuWa's "Silver Moon? Crimson Moon?" quest.

Victory hinges on strategically maneuvering the knights near lit Macabre Torches within the arena. These torches can be relit by guiding Fae Ignis enemies to strike them. Avoid using high-damage skills near the torches to prevent accidental extinguishment.

How to Unlock Nightmare Crownless in Wuthering Waves

Completing "Ruins Where Shadows Roam" and "Quest of Faith" unlocks the next step: locating all four Dream Patrols in Penitent's End. While completing these patrols isn't mandatory for unlocking Nightmare Crownless, doing so provides additional resources and Monnaie. The image above shows their locations. After finding all patrols, Nightmare Crownless will appear on your map within the ruins north of Penitent's End.

A crucial note: Nightmare Echoes utilize Enhanced Absorption charges, significantly boosting Echo drop rates. Players are limited to 15 charges per week, so judicious use is advised, especially when developing multiple characters.
