Balatro Surpasses 5 Million Sales on All Platforms

by Riley May 24,2025

If you've been keeping up with gaming news over the past few months, you won't be shocked to hear that LocalThunk's innovative blend of solitaire, roguelike, and deck-building, known as Balatro, has now surpassed five million sales across all platforms. Since its release, Balatro has received widespread acclaim from both critics and players, earning numerous prestigious awards.

While some might argue that these numbers are overshadowed by other games in terms of downloads and player counts, it's crucial to consider two significant factors: firstly, Balatro is a solo-developed project, and secondly, all these sales are premium, directly benefiting the developer and publisher, Playstack.

This achievement is particularly noteworthy given these circumstances. Although we don't have exact figures on how many of these sales came from mobile platforms, the last reported numbers in December showed 3.5 million sales, meaning an additional 1.5 million have been added since then, primarily from its mobile run.

However, it's safe to say that Balatro is among the most high-profile successes, particularly given the journey it has taken to achieve such popularity. The long-term sales performance of Balatro remains to be seen, especially as it continues to receive crossover updates and more.

The question now is whether this success will boost the confidence of both average mobile players and industry professionals in pushing indie games to mobile platforms. Here's hoping it does.
