Call of Duty Announces Black Ops 6 Updates
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Receives Classic Modes and Map, Addresses Post-Launch Issues
Following its recent launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has announced the imminent arrival of two beloved game modes and a highly anticipated map. The news comes alongside details of a recent update addressing various player-reported issues.
Infection and Nuketown Arrive This Week
Treyarch, the developer behind Black Ops 6, took to Twitter (now X) to confirm the addition of the popular "Infected" mode and the iconic Nuketown map. Infected, a fan-favorite party mode where players battle zombie-like opponents, launches today. Nuketown, a classic map first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010) and inspired by 1950s American nuclear test sites, will debut on November 1st. Activision previously stated their commitment to regular post-launch content additions, a promise seemingly already being fulfilled. The game initially launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.
Black Ops 6 Update Addresses Numerous Bugs
A first post-launch update has addressed several issues across multiplayer and Zombies modes. Improvements include increased XP and weapon XP rates in several key modes (Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight). Activision confirmed ongoing monitoring of XP rates across all modes to ensure balanced progression. The update also resolved the following issues:
Global:
- Loadouts: The last-selected loadout is now correctly highlighted in the Loadouts menu.
- Operators: An animation issue affecting Bailey's Operator menu appearance has been fixed.
- Settings: The "Mute Licensed Music" setting now functions correctly.
Maps:
- Babylon, Lowtown, Red Card: Exploits allowing players to leave the designated play areas have been patched. Red Card also received stability improvements.
- General: A stability issue related to in-game interactions has been addressed.
Multiplayer:
- Matchmaking: An issue occasionally preventing quick replacement of players who left matches has been resolved.
- Private Matches: Private matches no longer forfeit if one team has zero players.
- Scorestreaks: The continuous missile sound effect from the Dreadnought has been fixed.
While some issues remain (such as the death-on-loadout selection bug in Search & Destroy), developers Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on further patches. Despite these post-launch challenges, Black Ops 6 is widely considered one of the best Call of Duty titles in recent years, particularly praising its enjoyable campaign.
