Freedom Wars Remastered: A Guide to All Weapon Types

In *Freedom Wars Remastered*, players have the flexibility to equip two weapons of their choice before embarking on an Operation, allowing you to tailor your character to match your preferred playstyle. With six distinct weapon types available, you can mix and match any combination to suit your strategy.

Each of these weapon types brings something unique to the table, especially when it comes to charging up for special effects. The arsenal is split evenly between three gun weapons and three melee weapons, and every weapon can be customized to your liking. Let's delve into the specifics of each weapon type and what sets them apart.

Every Weapon Type in Freedom Wars Remastered

You can acquire new weapons by successfully completing operations or by making purchases at the Zakka store in The Warren. While you can't select the weapons for your Comrades, you have full control over your Accessory's equipment. Switching weapons or your Accessory's weapon at any time comes with no penalties or benefits, giving you the freedom to adapt as you see fit. Here's a breakdown of the six weapon types:

Weapon Type Traits
Light Melee
  • Quick attacks ideal for fast-paced playstyles, effective against single targets.
  • Can sever Abductor limbs without the need for a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee
  • Wide arcing attacks that inflict substantial damage.
  • Can strike multiple Abductor limbs, causing multiplied damage as if hitting them several times.
  • Charged attacks can propel you into the air at the end of a combo.
  • Slightly reduces your movement speed when equipped.
Polearm
  • Most attacks involve charging through enemies, helping you evade incoming attacks.
  • Charged-up attacks allow you to throw the polearm for massive damage from a safe distance.
Assault Weapons
  • High total ammo capacity, perfect as a primary weapon for gun-focused builds.
  • Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne, offering better angles or shooting from a safe distance.
Portable Artillery
  • Delivers high single-shot damage but with a limited overall ammo capacity.
  • Explosive AOE shots capable of hitting multiple limbs for increased damage.
  • Slows your movement speed when equipped.
Autocannons
  • Boasts a high rate of fire, large ammo capacity, and magazine size.
  • While individual shots may not deal significant damage, the rapid firing compensates for this.
  • Slows your movement speed when equipped.

An important note for players: Unlike you, your Accessory doesn't have to manage ammo when using gun weapons, giving them a distinct advantage in combat.
