MachineGames, the developers behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, have confirmed a heartwarming detail: players will be unable to harm any canine companions encountered during gameplay. This decision marks a significant departure from the studio's previous work, known for its often violent depictions of animal encounters.

No Canine Casualties in Indy's New Adventure

Creative Director Jens Andersson explained to IGN that this choice aligns with the family-friendly nature of the Indiana Jones franchise. While the game retains the series' signature action and brawling, dogs will be handled with care. Instead of violent confrontations, players will find themselves employing non-lethal methods to deter any four-legged foes. Andersson stated, "Indiana Jones is a dog person," highlighting the developers' commitment to this approach.

"It’s a family-friendly IP in many ways," Andersson elaborated. "How do we do that well? Well, these are the kind of things that we do. We have dogs as enemies, but you don’t really hurt the dogs. You scare them away."

Set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle sees Indy pursuing stolen artifacts from Marshall College. His pursuit takes him across diverse locations, from the Vatican to Egyptian pyramids and even the submerged temples of Sukhothai. While Indy's whip remains a key traversal and combat tool, players can rest assured that no dogs will suffer its wrath.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release tentatively scheduled for Spring 2025. For further details on gameplay, explore our related article!
