inZOI Dev Apologizes for Denuvo DRM, Removes It

by Hazel May 27,2025

The developers behind inZOI have issued an apology for initially including Denuvo DRM in their game and have committed to removing it. This decision comes after widespread reports surfaced about the presence of Denuvo in the game's Creative Studio mode demo. Denuvo, a controversial anti-tamper technology, has long been criticized for its potential impact on game performance and its hindrance to modding communities.

In a Steam blog post dated March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim explained that the choice to use Denuvo was made to combat piracy and ensure fairness for legitimate players. However, following significant community feedback, the team recognized that this approach was not in line with player expectations. Kjun apologized for the lack of transparency regarding Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode demo and confirmed that the upcoming Early Access build, set for release on March 28, 2025, will be free of DRM technology.

Kjun highlighted that while removing DRM could lead to an increase in pirated versions, it would greatly enhance the game's moddability, allowing players to freely customize and create unique experiences. "We believe enabling this freedom from the very beginning will lead to innovative and long-lasting enjoyment for the community," he stated.

inZOI's commitment to being a highly moddable game was further emphasized by Kjun, who shared plans for the first stage of official mod support to launch in May. This will enable players to use tools like Maya and Blender to craft custom content. The development team plans to continually expand mod support to enrich the player experience further.

Krafton, the company behind inZOI, continues to prioritize player feedback, making necessary adjustments to enhance the gaming experience. inZOI is slated for an Early Access release on PC on March 28, 2025, with a full launch planned across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC at a later, yet-to-be-announced date.
