David Hayter, the voice behind Solid Snake and Big Boss, shared a New Year's message on his Bluesky account, pointing out that 2025 is the Year of the Snake. With a new game release on the horizon, this could be a standout year for the iconic character. Hayter is confirmed to return as Solid Snake in the upcoming remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

It's a remarkable alignment that 2025 is both the Chinese zodiac's Year of the Snake and the planned launch year for the latest installment. Konami highlighted this coincidence in a video titled "New Year's Greetings" on their official YouTube channel, featuring three Taiko drummers and a calligraphy artist skillfully writing the kanji for "snake." The video ends with "SNAKE YEAR" in bold text, emphasizing that it's not just the zodiac snake's year, but also Solid Snake's.

Since its initial announcement in May 2024, along with a trailer and demo at the Tokyo Game Show, there have been no further updates or teasers for the title. However, in a short interview with the Japanese gaming site 4Gamer, Metal Gear Solid Delta producer Noriaki Okamura mentioned that one of their main objectives and challenges for 2025 is to ensure the game is highly refined and meets quality standards.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled to release in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This remake of the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will feature next-generation enhancements, including the return of Phantom Pain mechanics, as well as new voice-overs and additional dialogue from the original voice cast.
