Palworld Crossplay Update Arrives Late March

by Emma May 25,2025

Pocketpair, the developer behind the wildly popular game Palworld, is gearing up for a significant crossplay update set to launch in late March 2025. This eagerly awaited update will introduce multiplayer functionality across all platforms, enhancing the gaming experience for players everywhere. Additionally, the update will feature world transfer for Pals, allowing players to move their beloved creatures between different game worlds seamlessly.

In a recent post on X/Twitter, Pocketpair shared a glimpse of what's to come, accompanied by a promotional image showcasing various Palworld characters engaged in combat with a notably large Pal. The announcement was further sweetened by John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, who hinted at "a few little surprises" included in the March update.

This news is a boon for the 32 million players who have embraced Palworld since its early access release in January 2024. The game's success has prompted Pocketpair to outline an ambitious content roadmap for 2025, which includes not only crossplay but also an "ending scenario" and a plethora of new content for this beloved creature-catching survival game.

Palworld made a splash upon its launch on Steam for $30 and simultaneously on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, shattering sales records and achieving unprecedented concurrent player numbers. The overwhelming success led Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, to admit that the studio struggled to manage the massive influx of profits. In response to this success, Pocketpair quickly moved to expand the Palworld universe, forging a partnership with Sony to create Palworld Entertainment, a new venture focused on broadening the game's IP and bringing it to the PS5.

However, the game's rise has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging infringement on "multiple" patent rights and seeking both an injunction and compensation for damages. In response, Pocketpair has identified the patents in question and adjusted certain gameplay mechanics, such as how players summon Pals. The studio remains steadfast, vowing to defend its position in court, stating, "We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings."
