RGG Studio, renowned for the Like a Dragon series, has several ambitious projects underway. Beyond the next Like a Dragon installment and a Virtua Fighter remake slated for 2025, they're developing two additional titles. Studio head and director Masayoshi Yokoyama attributes this to Sega's open embrace of risk.

In early December, RGG unveiled trailers for two distinct projects: Project Century, a new IP set in 1915 Japan, and a new Virtua Fighter project (separate from the upcoming Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. remaster). These large-scale projects showcase the studio's ambition, and Sega's confidence in RGG's ability to deliver. This reflects a relationship built on trust and a shared drive for innovation.

Yokoyama emphasizes Sega's acceptance of potential failure, a departure from solely pursuing safe bets. He suggests this risk-taking is ingrained in Sega's DNA, citing the evolution from the Virtua Fighter IP to the RPG-inspired Shenmue series as an example.

RGG Studio assures fans that the simultaneous development of these projects won't compromise quality, particularly for the Virtua Fighter series. Original creator Yu Suzuki supports the new project, and the team, including producer Riichiro Yamada, is committed to delivering a high-quality, innovative experience.

Yamada promises a "cool and interesting" new Virtua Fighter experience, appealing to both existing fans and newcomers. Yokoyama expresses his excitement for both upcoming titles.
