Proxi, The Sims Creator's New Game, Has More Details Revealed

Will Wright, creator of The Sims, recently shared new details about his AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, on a Twitch livestream. This innovative title, first hinted at in 2018, is finally taking shape under the development banner of Gallium Studio. Learn more about this unique game built around your personal memories.

A Deep Dive into Personalized Gaming

Wright's appearance on BreakthroughT1D's Twitch channel, a platform dedicated to raising funds for Type 1 diabetes research, provided a revealing glimpse into Proxi's core mechanics. The game uses your memories as its foundation. Players input personal memories as text, and the game transforms them into animated scenes within a customizable 3D environment.

Each memory, referred to as a "mem," enhances the game's AI and contributes to the player's "mind world"—a navigable 3D space composed of hexagons. As the mind world expands, so does its population of "Proxies," representing friends and family members from your memories. These memories and Proxies can be arranged chronologically and interconnected to reflect the relationships and events within your recollections. Remarkably, Proxies can even be exported to other game worlds like Minecraft and Roblox!

The game's objective is to forge meaningful connections with your memories, bringing them to life in a vibrant and interactive way. Wright emphasized the game's intensely personal nature, stating that focusing on the player's own experiences is key to its appeal. He playfully noted the inherent human tendency towards self-interest in game design, suggesting that the more a game revolves around the player, the more engaging it becomes.

Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's website, with platform announcements forthcoming.
