Star Wars: Hunters to Cease Operations Before First Anniversary

Star Wars: Hunters will close its servers less than a year after launch, though it will mark its one-year milestone before shutting down. Is a fading game's anniversary worth celebrating?

When Will Star Wars: Hunters Shut Down?

The game’s servers will go offline on October 1, 2025, just nine months post-launch. Players have until April 15 to complete Season 5.

Zynga, the game’s developer and publisher, will release a final content update on April 15, introducing a new Support Hunter, Tuya, at no cost. In-game purchases will also end on that date.

Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers close, with season events cycling back. Players should spend any remaining Crystals, as refunds will not be offered.

A Predictable Outcome

The shutdown, while disappointing, feels inevitable. Announced in 2020, the game faced multiple delays, with beta testing limited to SEA and ANZAC regions.

A postponed release, lack of major console support, and a tepid response from players contributed to the game’s closure.

Design choices also missed the mark. Despite Star Wars’ rich roster of iconic characters, the game opted for generic originals, squandering a clear opportunity.

If you’ve uninstalled but want a final playthrough, the game remains available for download until the shutdown. Find it on the Google Play Store.
