MachineGames: Wolfenstein Series Continues

by Alexis Nov 12,2025

It appears MachineGames isn't quite ready to leave the Wolfenstein universe behind.

Though it's been more than five years since we last took on Nazis in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, studio head Jerk Gustafsson has suggested the team is eager to return to wrap up BJ Blazkowicz's narrative.

While Youngblood and the 2019 VR experience Cyberpilot expanded on the broader Blazkowicz family saga, players haven't stepped into the shoes of the series' main hero, Blazkowicz, since 2017's The New Colossus. Gustafsson seems particularly drawn to BJ's storyline — in fact, it seems Blazkowicz’s arc was always envisioned as a three-part tale.

In a recent Noclip interview, Gustafsson noted the team "always viewed [BJ's story] as a trilogy," explaining: "Even in our first weeks at [id Software], when we outlined The New Order — we already had a plan for BJ's journey across at least three games, mapping out what would happen in the second and third installments.

"I think it's important to clarify this because — at least I hope — our work on Wolfenstein isn't finished. We still have a story we want to tell," he added (via PC Gamer).

The most recent Wolfenstein release was 2019's Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Set in 1980, 19 years after BJ Blazkowicz sparked the second American Revolution, it introduced a new generation of Blazkowiczs to the ongoing resistance. IGN's review gave the game a modest 6.5, describing it as "aggressively okay."

MachineGames' latest project, however, was Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which earned a 9/10 score.
