Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server Launched, Update 7.0 Brings Major Changes

by Camila May 19,2025

The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering an exciting preview of the highly anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. According to a recent community post by publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive, the preliminary patch notes for the PTS version include most of the features expected in the 7.0 update. However, they caution that the final 7.0 patch notes may differ as the team continues to refine and fix bugs.

This update is a significant boon for PC players participating in the PTS, which is not yet available on consoles. Update 7.0 introduces a variety of new content and enhancements. Players can look forward to a new PvE mission called Exfiltration, the addition of the Inferno Pistol as a secondary weapon for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes, prestige ranks in PvE, and the introduction of private PvP lobbies.

For fans of customization, Update 7.0 offers new colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. Additionally, rewards in PvP have been increased by 50%. The PTS also introduces new champion skins, such as the Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and the Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.

Significant balance changes are also part of this update, with an extended weapon arsenal in PvE allowing all classes to enjoy a broader selection of weaponry. Notably, the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without needing mods. The patch notes detail numerous tweaks to the game's extensive weapon roster, ensuring players have a comprehensive understanding of the changes.

One particularly welcome adjustment is to the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be teleported there after a short delay, addressing the issue of griefing where players could previously remain outside the area indefinitely, stalling progress for others.

The update also includes various bug fixes, improvements to existing operations, and enhancements to weapon perks, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable gameplay experience for all players. With these exciting additions and improvements, Update 7.0 is set to significantly enhance the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 experience.
