App Army Assemble: A Fragile Mind - \"Will this puzzler leave you scratching your head?\"
This week, Pocket Gamer's App Army tackled the puzzle adventure A Fragile Mind from Glitch Games. Reactions were mixed, with some praising the challenging puzzles and humor, while others criticized the presentation.
A Fragile Mind uses a classic escape room format with a humorous twist. We asked our App Army readers for their opinions, and here's what they had to say:

Initially, the game's icon led me to believe it would be dull. However, the gameplay proved surprisingly unique and engaging. The puzzles are difficult but rewarding, making this one of the best puzzle games I've played. I recommend playing it on a tablet for the best experience.

This point-and-click adventure features static, pre-rendered graphics. While the storyline remains somewhat unclear, each chapter unfolds on a different floor of a building, requiring increasingly complex puzzle solutions to progress. Interestingly, you don't need to solve every puzzle on a floor to advance; some puzzles require items obtained on subsequent floors. The game cleverly incorporates fourth-wall breaks, like describing an item's graphics as "not detailed enough to be important." The hint system, while helpful, is perhaps too generous. The navigation could also be improved; moving between rooms and corridors sometimes felt disorienting. Despite these minor flaws, A Fragile Mind is a strong example of the genre.
Robert Maines
A Fragile Mind is a first-person puzzle adventure where you awaken in a building's garden with amnesia. Exploration, photography, and clue discovery are key to solving puzzles and progressing. The graphics and sound are functional, though not exceptional. The puzzles presented a significant challenge, requiring occasional walkthrough consultation. While relatively short, it's a worthwhile experience for puzzle adventure enthusiasts.
Torbjörn Kämblad
While I enjoy escape-room style puzzle games, A Fragile Mind fell short of expectations. The presentation felt muddled, hindering puzzle identification. Poor UI design, particularly the misplaced menu button, added to the frustration. The pacing felt off, with too many puzzles available from the start, leading to disorientation and early reliance on the hint system.
Mark Abukoff
I'm not usually a fan of these games due to their difficulty, but A Fragile Mind pleasantly surprised me. It boasts excellent audio and visual options, creating a captivating atmosphere. The puzzles were engaging, and the hint system is well-implemented. It's a highly enjoyable, albeit brief, experience.

The gameplay is best described as a complex, layered puzzle experience. The game throws multiple puzzles at you simultaneously, requiring careful observation and note-taking. It runs smoothly on Android and offers extensive visual and sound customization options. The puzzles are challenging but rewarding, and the humor adds a nice touch. A great experience for puzzle fans!
