The Dungeon faction, also known as the Warlocks' faction, has always captivated fans and seamlessly weaves into the rich tapestry of the Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era narrative. Our journey into the realm of Jadame revealed creatures deeply connected to the Dungeon faction, each with their own established territories on the continent. This allowed developers to build a faction that honors its heritage while embracing fresh concepts.

If we were to encapsulate the essence of the Dungeon faction throughout the series in just two words, "power" and "outcasts" would be fitting. By revisiting the world of Enroth, we have the opportunity to reimagine these powerful warlocks. Drawing inspiration from the lore of Jadame, particularly from Might and Magic VIII: The Alvaric Pact, the Dungeon faction is reimagined.

Creatures once viewed as mere monsters now form alliances with the red-skinned dark elves, who have long been marginalized for their pragmatic approach. Through diplomacy, trade, and strategic alliances, they have grown stronger, marking a significant evolution from their earlier portrayals in the series.

Throughout the Heroes series, the Dungeon faction has consistently featured skilled warlocks and formidable leaders within playable cities, each game presenting them in a unique light:

  • In Heroes I and Heroes II, the faction served under Lord Alamar and King Archibald, amassing power and rallying creatures united by their ambition.
  • In Heroes III, Nighon's warlords embodied the philosophy that strength justifies rule, governing from subterranean tunnels with aspirations of conquering Antagarich.
  • In Heroes IV, the faction evolved into chaotic sorcerers and thieves residing in Axeoth's swamps, assembling rogues to seize territory in the newly forming world.
  • In Heroes V through VII, the dark elves of Ashan aligned with the Dragon-Goddess Malassa and the underworld, crafting a narrative filled with intrigue and complexity.
