How To Fix Marvel Rivals Compiling Shaders Slow on Launch

by Leo Feb 13,2025

Many Marvel Rivals players on PC experience frustratingly long shader compilation times on launch. This guide offers a solution to significantly reduce this delay.

Addressing Slow Shader Compilation in Marvel Rivals

Game launches, especially online titles, often involve a period of loading. However, Marvel Rivals' extended shader compilation times (several minutes) are impacting PC players' experience.

Shaders are crucial programs managing visual elements like color, lighting, and shadows in 3D environments. Incorrect shader installation can lead to various issues. Even with correct installation, some Marvel Rivals players encounter this problem.

A community-discovered workaround effectively addresses this:

  1. Access Nvidia Control Panel: Open your Nvidia control panel.
  2. Adjust Shader Cache Size: Locate the global settings and adjust the Shader Cache Size. Set it to a value at or below your VRAM capacity. Note: Options are limited to 5GB, 10GB, and 100GB. Select the closest option to your VRAM.

This method not only accelerates shader compilation (reducing it to seconds), but also resolves "Out of VRAM memory" errors reported by some users.

While a permanent fix from NetEase is awaited, this solution provides an immediate workaround to avoid extended loading times.

Marvel Rivals is available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
