by Christian Mar 15,2025

In Avowed's "Fires in the Mine" side quest, the decision to support or stop Darle might seem subjective, depending on your perspective. However, considering XP, gold, loot, and narrative impact, one choice clearly emerges as superior.

Choosing to prevent Darle from destroying the mine yields the best overall rewards.

Should You Stop or Support Darle in Avowed's "Fires in the Mine"?

Stopping Darle provides significantly more benefits than supporting him. While supporting Darle grants 1026 XP, preventing his plan offers greater rewards.

Supporting Darle: The Consequences

Letting Darle blow up the mine rewards you with 1026 XP upon mission completion. However, you forfeit any monetary reward from Kada and Seyon, straining relations between the Aedyrans and Thirdborn. Regardless of your attempts to justify your actions, the outcome remains the same.

Stopping Darle: The Rewards

Stopping Darle earns you 1091 XP (212 XP for the kill + 879 XP from the mining officials), surpassing the reward for supporting him. Furthermore, you receive 900 gold coins from Seyon and Kada. Looting Darle's corpse yields a Blackwood Branch (a superb upgrade material), Wild Mushroom Stew, Beetle Pie (x2). While the food items are minor, the Blackwood Branch is a valuable addition.

Maintaining positive relations between the Thirdborn and Aedyrans is a narrative benefit. However, from a gameplay standpoint, stopping Darle offers superior rewards.
