"Secret Stage Completion Wins Streamers Hazelight Studios Trip"
Split Fiction streamers have achieved a remarkable feat by discovering and conquering the challenging "Laser Hell" secret stage, earning themselves an exciting trip to Hazelight Studios. Dive into the details of this thrilling challenge and get the latest updates on what Hazelight Studios is working on following the success of their latest game.
Split Fiction Continues With More Surprises
First Players to Finish "Laser Hell" Challenge Earn a Trip to Hazelight Studios
Following its successful launch last month, Split Fiction continues to captivate players with hidden surprises, including the notoriously difficult "Laser Hell" stage. A duo of Chinese streamers, sharkOvO and E1uM4y, recently showcased their triumph over this challenge on the streaming platform BiliBili. Accessing this stage requires entering a specific sequence of switches in the Isolation level's elevator, leading players to a laser-filled platform stage.
Their victory unlocked a special message from Hazelight Founder Josef Fares, who commended their skill, noting that even most of the development team struggled with the level. Fares extended an invitation for the streamers to visit Hazelight Studios in Sweden for an early glimpse of their upcoming game. He confirmed this invitation via a tweet on March 19, expressing his admiration and promising to stay in touch for the visit.
Hazelight Studios Working On Its Next Game
In a recent interview on The Friends Per Second podcast on March 17, Josef Fares discussed Hazelight's relationship with publisher EA and revealed that the studio has begun work on its next game. Fares described the unique feeling after releasing Split Fiction, noting it as the best-received game Hazelight has produced. However, his focus has already shifted to the studio's next project, which they started a month ago.
While Fares kept details about the new project under wraps, he mentioned that Hazelight typically completes games within three to four years. He expressed immense excitement about the upcoming game but stated it was too early to share specifics.
Regarding their partnership with EA, Fares praised the publisher for their supportive role, emphasizing that EA does not interfere with Hazelight's creative process. He acknowledged that while EA's reputation varies among developers, Hazelight has thrived under their support, becoming one of EA's most successful studios.
First Update and Hitting 2 Million Sales in 1 Week
On March 17, Split Fiction received its first update, addressing several community-identified issues. These fixes improved in-game mechanics, resolved minor glitches during online play, and enhanced localization and subtitles across all languages.
In a stunning achievement, Split Fiction sold over 2 million copies within just one week of its release. This milestone surpasses the initial sales performance of Hazelight's previous hit, It Takes Two, which sold 1 million copies a few weeks post-launch and reached 20 million by October 2024.
Split Fiction is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest news about the game by checking out our article below!
