Quarterly Update Schedule
GSC Game World, the developer behind S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, has announced a new roadmap with a commitment to major updates every three months. The official STALKER Twitter (X) account shared details of the Q2 2025 plans on April 14th.
The studio will structure its development plans around these quarterly updates, providing regular information on upcoming features. Official patch notes will accompany each release to confirm which announced changes are live in the game.

Following the Q1 updates that addressed major issues and deployed several hotfixes, the team continues to refine the game based on community feedback. According to the published roadmap, players can look forward to the following additions and improvements:
● Beta Mod SDK Kit
● A-Life/AI Updates
● Mutant Loot
● Shader Compilation Skip
● Increased Player Stash Capacity
● Widescreen Aspect Ratio Support
● Two New Weapons
● Ongoing Stabilization, Optimization, and Bug Fixes
● Next-Gen Update for the Original STALKER Trilogy
Beta Mod SDK, A-Life Enhancements, and Additional Features

GSC Game World highlighted two major focus areas: the Beta Mod SDK Kit and continued development of the A-Life simulation system. Before the official release, a closed beta will allow select mod creators to test the new tools. The team also aims to integrate popular modding platforms like Mod.io and Steam Workshop.
The A-Life system, which governs NPC AI and world simulation, will receive significant upgrades. Building upon the substantial work done late last year—including a 110 GB Christmas update—the developers plan to introduce "persistent A-Life improvements" and smarter combat behaviors like better cover usage, flanking tactics, and limited grenade deployment for human enemies.

Mutants are also getting attention, with new behaviors such as scavenging corpses and reacting to threats. Other planned features include loot drops from mutants, a toggle to skip shader compilation, an expanded player stash, widescreen support, two new (currently unspecified) weapons, and further performance optimization and stability fixes.
As a separate project, the original STALKER trilogy will receive a next-generation update. More specific details on all these features are expected closer to their respective release windows.
