Monster Hunter Wilds: New PC Benchmark and System Requirements Revealed
With Monster Hunter Wilds launching in just a few weeks, Capcom has released a PC benchmark tool on Steam to help players assess their system's readiness. This comes alongside an exciting update: the PC system requirements have been officially lowered, making the game more accessible to a wider range of players.
The PC benchmark for Monster Hunter Wilds is now live on Steam. Once launched, the tool requires some time to compile shaders, but after that, it's straightforward to use. It's a smart move to run this benchmark, especially if you're interested in how the revised system requirements might impact your gameplay experience.
Previously, to achieve 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled, the game demanded a robust setup including an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, or AMD Radeon RX 6700XT graphics card; an Intel Core i5-11600K, Intel Core i5-12400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, or AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU; and 16 GB of RAM.
However, an updated page alongside the benchmark reveals that Capcom has adjusted the requirements downward. For the Recommended settings, which target 1080p (FHD) at 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled, the new specifications are:
OS: Windows 10 (64-bit required) / Windows 11 (64-bit required)
Processor: Intel Core i5-10400 / Intel Core i3-12100 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Memory: 16 GB
Graphics Card (GPU): GeForce RTX 2060 Super / Radeon RX 6600 (8 GB VRAM)
Storage: 75 GB (SSD required)
According to Capcom's site, these updated specs should enable Monster Hunter Wilds to run smoothly at 1080p and 60 frames per second with Frame Generation enabled. This slight but significant adjustment in requirements should make the game more accessible to players with less powerful hardware.

Users are already reporting noticeable performance improvements in the benchmark compared to the beta test, albeit with Frame Generation enabled. While my gaming rig passed the test with flying colors, the Steam Deck still seems unlikely to run the game smoothly based on my attempts.
Another significant change is the storage requirement. Initially, Monster Hunter Wilds required 140 GB of space on an SSD, but it has now been reduced to 75 GB. This is quite surprising given that file sizes generally increase each year.
