Pity System in RAID Shadow Legends: Does It Actually Work?
RAID: Shadow Legends is renowned for its RNG-based (random number generator) mechanics, particularly in the summoning of champions. The excitement of pulling shards can quickly turn into frustration, especially when you go through dozens or even hundreds of pulls without securing a coveted Legendary champion. To mitigate this, Plarium introduced what the community refers to as the “Pity System.” In this guide, we’ll delve into how this system functions, its effectiveness, and its impact on free-to-play (F2P) and low-spender players.
What Is the Pity System in RAID: Shadow Legends?
The Pity System is a covert mechanic designed to boost your chances of pulling higher rarity champions — Epic and Legendary — the longer you go without obtaining one. Essentially, if your luck runs dry for an extended period, the game incrementally improves your odds until you finally land a significant pull. This mechanism aims to avert prolonged “dry streaks” where players might summon numerous shards without encountering a valuable champion. Although Plarium does not openly promote this feature in-game, its existence has been verified through datamining, developer statements, and the collective experiences of players.
Sacred Shards
- Base Legendary chance: 6% per pull.
- Pity kicks in: After 12 pulls without a Legendary.
- After your 12th Sacred pull without a Legendary, each subsequent pull increases your Legendary odds by 2%.
This progression looks like this:
- 13th pull = 8% chance
- 14th pull = 10% chance
- 15th pull = 12% chance
Is the Pity System Helpful for the Average Player?
The answer to this question isn't straightforward. While the Pity System does offer some relief, it may not be consistently beneficial. Many players have noted that the threshold for the pity to activate is quite high, suggesting that by the time they reach this point, they might have already pulled a Legendary champion. This raises the question of how the system could be improved. The presence of a pity system is undoubtedly valuable, especially in a gacha game like RAID: Shadow Legends.
For free-to-play players, the constant struggle to obtain Legendary champions after extensive grinding and shard farming can be disheartening. Therefore, the Pity System is essential. However, enhancements could make it more effective. For instance, reducing the pity threshold from 200 to 150 or 170 pulls could help players conserve more shards and truly feel the benefit of the pity system.
Players can enhance their RAID: Shadow Legends experience by playing on a larger screen using a PC or laptop with a keyboard and mouse through BlueStacks, offering an elevated gameplay experience.
