Monster Hunter Wilds GPU Requirements May Lower as Capcom Tries to Optimize Game
Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before its release. This follows concerns raised during the initial open beta test.
Addressing Performance Concerns:
Capcom's German Twitter (X) account announced performance enhancements, particularly focusing on lowering the GPU requirements for the PC version. A video showcasing improved frame rates on the PS5, achieved by prioritizing framerate over some graphical details in the "Prioritize Framerate" mode, hints at similar optimizations for PC. The goal is to make the game accessible to a wider range of hardware.
Currently, the minimum GPU requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Successful optimization could significantly lower these requirements, allowing players with lower-end GPUs to enjoy the game. A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players assess their system's compatibility.
Open Beta Test Feedback:
The initial open beta test (October-November 2024) revealed performance issues, including low-poly models and frame rate drops, even on high-end PCs. Capcom acknowledged these problems, stating that improvements have been made since the beta. Specifically, an afterimage noise issue related to frame generation has been addressed.
A second open beta test (February 7-10 & 14-17, 2025) for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam is scheduled, featuring new monsters. Whether these performance improvements will be fully implemented in the second beta remains to be seen.
The upcoming release of Monster Hunter Wilds promises a more polished experience than the initial beta, thanks to Capcom's commitment to performance optimization and reduced hardware demands.
